EMPOWER has been a 3-years research and innovation project with a budget of €6,1 mill.

The project’s goal was to develop a completely new energy market platform in Europe where consumers and prosumers can buy and sell locally produced energy from solar cells, micro wind turbines and other decentralized energy resources.

The project will relieve stress on central and regional power grids, increase locally produced renewable energy and provide less expensive renewable energy for consumers. Thus, the project contributes to the European climate targets.

The new market design has been developed and verified at three pilot sites in Norway, Germany and Malta.
